Disappointment, loss, tragedy, and failure has a way of sucking all the optimism out of you, doesn't it? After you've endured intense struggle and hardship, if you're not careful, you'll develop a defeatist mentality. You'll come to expect failure.
But we can't afford to be small-minded when trusting God with our futures.
Trust me, I know how easy it can be to fall prey to small thinking. That nagging voice keeps telling us, "God wouldn't do THAT for ME..." Oh, but He will. He's just looking for someone to trust Him.
Sadly, we brush aside the things we really desire, and settle for what we think we can get. We're hesitant to venture out beyond our comfort zones for fear of being left hanging. But I want to encourage you not to settle for just enough; don't ever be too afraid to believe God.
Remind yourself as often as you need to that, you serve a great big God who wants to exceed your expectations. He wants to go above and beyond all you could ever ask or think.
But first, you have to condition your mind to receive what God has in store for you. No matter what has happened in the past, and how many setbacks you've encountered, you must know and believe that this time around is different. Don't be afraid to believe God for greater things... because that's exactly what He's ready and able to give you.
Isaiah 43:18-19 says, "Do not remember the former things, nor consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing, now it shall spring forth; shall you not know it? I will even make a road in the wilderness and rivers in the desert."
As always, thanks for reading, and until next time... may you be empowered to prosper!
