Sometimes I get heartwarming comments from readers that really make me smile. Well, in response to a recent post called "Just Try" a blog reader named Mona talked about how she was encouraged to go out and complete something that she had been procrastinating about since 2002 due to her own fear. As she read the blog, she felt that God was urging her to tap into her faith and try again! I got so excited when I read her comments because Mona represents so many of us who don't pursue what God has called us to do, in part, because of a sincere fear of failure.
We leave assignments uncompleted and opportunities untapped in an attempt to avoid disappointment. The sad irony is that, we tend to lead lives full of disappointment, defeat, and discouragement, even though we try hard to sidestep anything that would lead us along such a path. Turns out that our fear causes us to forfeit our destiny.
You see, the enemy knows that, if he can just keep you from trying you'll never uncover the hidden gifts, talents, and resources God has placed at your disposal. You'll never give yourself the opportunity to see change in your life. Why? Because you'll never pursue it. That's why. As a result, days will turn into weeks, weeks into months, months into years, years into decades... without you ever receiving all God so desperately wants to give to you.
I just believe that there are many more of you like Mona reading this post today; you're struggling with your own anxiety about your future. There are things God has planted in your heart... things you have a deep-rooted desire to successfully accomplish; but sadly, you allow fear about what tomorrow holds to impede your progress.
You find ways to talk yourself out of the things you should be pressing toward. But you've got to tell yourself, "No more will I allow fear to stop me, and if I fail it won't be because I was too afraid to try."
Listen, you have it in you to do everything God has placed you here on this earth to do. But no one can MAKE you get out there and give it your best effort. Only you can make the decision to try. You've got to know that the Lord is on your side; He's already given you all the tools you need to do what's in your heart.
Whatever has been holding you back, I want you to release it today and forge ahead.
As always, thanks for reading, and until next time... may you be empowered to prosper!
