Remember that song called, "Jesus Is My Help" from Hezekiah Walker and the Love Fellowship Crusade Choir ? (Just in case you aren't quite familiar with it, I've posted the video).
Although we know that our help comes from the Lord, when times get trying, we often begin relying on our own strength to get us through life's toughest storms. We seek to be progressive, productive, and proactive without including Him. But that's not God's desire for our lives. He wants us to trust Him completely, knowing that He is our sustainer and deliver. He is the giver of every good and perfect gift. (James 1:17) When we're going through, we have to remember not to turn away from Him and begin looking for answers on our own. Only God can bring us through whatever just so happens to be troubling us, and only He can give us the witty ideas and creativity we need to accomplish our divine mission in the earth.
Unfortunately, we find it difficult, at times, to "carve out" time for God. The eventualities of life somehow catch up with us, and before we know it, we have less and less substantial space set aside to "squeeze" God in. We don't realize what a negative effect this has on us. We only hurt ourselves when we allow distractions to crowd God out.
When we we don't make time for Him, the sole provider of all we'll ever need, things don't flow so smoothly. We begin feeling the wear and tear of toiling, worrying, stressing, and struggling. When we're not giving the Lord first place in our lives, we limit His ability to provide for us, and we miss out on all we could be receiving.
You see, when we're not connected to Him we no longer receive what we need to make it through. In St. John 15:4-5 Jesus explains the importance of abiding in Him. He says, "Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me. I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing." (KJV)
There's no need for us to seek productivity outside of Christ. Our daily sustenance is found in Him. Everything we need to thrive is in Him. Oh how we need the Lord.
I don't know how I could ever make it without Him; Jesus is truly my help! I pray that you will always take time out to seek the Lord and ensure that He is indeed the head of your life. Let Him direct you in all things; if you do, you'll be more productive, more at peace, and more at liberty to walk out the path He predestined for you.
As always, thanks for reading, and until next time... may you be empowered to prosper!
