Don't ever make the mistake of just jumping into a situation before God gives you clarity. Don't make decisions on a whim. I've done that before, and believe me when I tell you, it usually doesn't end well. Today, I want to talk to you about choosing wisely, not only in the sense of making good decisions, but also regarding the way you make your decisions. Ask yourself. Are you making choices without God's counsel, or are you seeking Him for the who, what, when, where, why, how, and... the if?
You see, God desires for you to consult Him before you commit to any particular path, because only He knows what's waiting on the other side of that decision. We get ourselves into unnecessary binds when we wander aimlessly through life without talking to God first. He's standing by with outstretched arms saying, "I'll show you which way to go if you seek My face."
Unfortunately, we get "too busy" to seek God. Our schedules get a little too full. But have you considered the fact that none of us can afford NOT to seek God's counsel? I don't care what has to be written out of your schedule; be sure and very sure that you're making time to hear from the Lord.
Choose wisely, which means, choose the wisdom of God above your own. Ask Him, "Lord, what should I do? Which way should I go? Which path do you want me to take? Would you be pleased with this choice?"
I don't care how small or how big the decision, your Heavenly Father wants to be intricately involved in every area of your life. Don't shut Him out. Seek Him first; before you call your "girlfriend", seek Him first; before you chat it up with you sister or your mom, seek Him first; before you seek counsel from any other source, seek Him first. He's the only one who has the answers for your life.
Only He knows how things will work out. Only He understands the ins and outs of your particular situation. Please hear me today; I implore you. Don't leave God out of the equation. Otherwise, you'll have a mess on your hands. Just think about it this way; why ask Him to help you clean up the mess afterward, when you can avoid the mess altogether by seeking Him from the onset?
I don't mean to be so "preachy" today, but someone is facing a tough decision, but you're seeking everybody BUT God for advice. He wants you to stop dead in your tracks. Don't pick up the phone and ask another person what you should do. He has your answer.
Listen, you have to recognize that there are far too many unknown details involved that could potentially trip you up along the way, but you can certainly seek the Father, the Omniscient, All-Knowing One. When you do, He will gladly order your steps and help you avoid certain pitfalls.
Now is the time to attune your ears to His voice. There's some answers He wants to give you. There's some advice He has waiting for you. But you've got to get alone with Him before you can hear what thus saith the Lord.
God is always speaking, but we're not always listening. How about you? Are you listening. If you haven't been lately, you can start today. After all, He has a message specifically for you... which is exactly why you're reading this post. Open your heart and your ears, and hear what the Spirit is saying to you.
As always, thanks for reading, and until next time... may you be empowered to prosper!
