Six years ago, when I first read a book by Dr. Spencer Johnson called, Who Moved My Cheese? I was so impacted. This is a quick and easy read, by the way...one that I highly recommend for anyone seeking to change their lives.
The book explores our reluctance to go through transition, even when our current state of being is yielding unproductive results.
But most of us are hesitant to do the things we know can improve our quality of life. It's because change is hard. We don't like disrupting our routines. We don't want to challenge the very paradigms that have limited our growth and progress.
We've grown comfortable where we are. So, instead of doing something different, we continue along the same path.
Ironically, even though we haven't changed, we still expect our circumstances to change.
"Even though we haven't changed, we still expect our circumstances to change."
Does that make any sense?
Of course not, because there can never be a radical transformation in our lives, without a radical transformation in our approach. There's a popular quote that's appropriate here: "If you always do what you've always done, you'll always get what you've always gotten."
It's similar to the idea behind one of the often quoted definitions of insanity, which is: Doing the same thing over and over again, expecting a different result.
Ever been guilty of that?
Still guilty of it?
Maybe just a little?
Well, you don't have to live that way anymore. I'm not suggesting that changing is easy, nor do I believe that things will happen overnight. You know the saying... "Old habits die hard." Yet, that's not an excuse not to try.
After all, difficultly does not denote impossibility.
Trust God to give you the courage, boldness, and resolve you need, to move from the place where you are into the new place He wants you to be. The road to change may be rocky sometimes; nevertheless, it will ultimately lead you to your place of destiny.
Thanks for reading, and until next time... may you be empowered to prosper!
