You're in a tug-of-war. It's a fight to believe what God has spoken. No matter how clearly He speaks, there will always be another voice that tries to introduce doubt. The question is, "Whose report will you believe?"
You see, whenever God manifests His plans there will always be contradictory evidence. Never forget that. Your circumstances, and sometimes even your advisers, friends, and confidants, will tell you the opposite of what God has spoken. But hold on to what the Lord said anyway!
Don't ever allow anything or anyone to stomp out the dream God has implanted in your heart. If you know He told you to do something, or if He said you could have something, don't give up on it.
Here's a word to the wise...
There are well-meaning people who are just plain wrong. They speak things into our lives that go against what God said to us. They don't do it to hurt us--quite the opposite actually. They don't want to see us hurt. They don't want us to fail, so they try to deter us from moving along a certain path. In these cases, you can't internalize what people think. Rather, choose to believe God over man.
Even when someone comes "in the name of the Lord," if the word they deliver to you doesn't confirm what the Lord has birthed in your spirit, don't fret. Anything contrary to the purpose and plan of God will be exposed.
Always remember, people are fallible. None of us is perfect. We all make mistakes from time to time. Quite often, our opinions prove to be invalid. Things don't pan out the way we thought they would.
Put the shoe on the other foot for a moment. Haven't you ever given advice based on your preconceived notions about things, but in the end turned out to be wrong? Lord knows I have.
Here's what we all would do well to keep in mind: God is the only one that knows the end from the beginning. Only He is capable of seeing into your future with precision. After all, He is the Omniscient One.
So the next time someone speaks a word contrary to the word you've received from the Lord, or when your situation doesn't line up with your revelation, don't let it disturb your peace. Ask God to show you what He wants you to see, and He'll do it! I know He will. He's done it for me time and again. The Bible tells us to trust in the Lord... not our circumstances... and certainly not other people.
"Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight" (Proverbs 3:5, 6 NKJV).
Until next time... may you be empowered to prosper!
