This morning at about 2:30AM I decided I had enough. I was going to bed. I had cleaned and cooked my greens, baked my mac-n-cheese, cooked up my candied yams, slaved over my banana pudding... I was on a roll. Everything was done except my ham. So, I stuck the ham in the oven, turned the oven timer on, set my alarm, and went to bed.
It was all good... so I thought.
My husband agreed to be the one to wake up and take the ham out of the oven. "Perfect," I thought. So, I went to sleep. Well, at about 6AM I woke up to the smell of something burning, but my mind didn't make the association. I wasn't fully awake yet.
I bet you can guess what that smell was... yep, my ham!
It was pretty charred. I couldn't believe neither of us heard the alarm! Guess we were pretty pooped.
When my husband tasted it, according to him, the ham could be salvaged. "It still tastes good to me," he said. When I tasted it, however, it was sooo dry. Plus, it had an extra smoked flavor-- and not in a good way!
Well, we ended up having to get another one this morning. Thankfully, that one turned out perfectly. I glazed it with a little brown sugar and some pineapples... my, my, my, it was delectable!
This little incident got me to thinking. Everything doesn't always turn out as planned. Sometimes, situations will get a little out of hand. But the good news is, you can always start over again!
Perhaps there are some areas in your life where you need to begin again. You may not have gotten the results you wanted the first time around, but don't fret; just begin afresh! It'll work out better next time.
From the Hobbs household to yours, I pray that your Thanksgiving has been wonderful!
Until next time... may you be empowered to prosper!
