The hardest salvation to accept is salvation from yourself. It feels like a curse, but it's really a blessing. You see, sometimes, we don't have sense enough to do what makes sense, so God has to intervene and rescue us from calamity. The problem is, we don't always recognize our need to be rescued. We don't respond appropriately to the severity of our situation. We don't see that the path we're on, undoubtedly leads to destruction.
Without God, we would pretty much crash and burn. But because He's rich in mercy, He will often pull us out of harm's way and set us on the right course.
I wonder; when is the last time God saved you from yourself? I can surely remember several occasions when He did it for me. And I must admit, His rescue missions don't always feel like help. Why do I say that? Because the kind of deliverance He provides will cause you to have to let some people go; sever some unhealthy relationships; change your attitudes, behaviors, and habits; drastically alter your lifestyle; and embrace a new paradigm. Who would have imagined that "help" could "hurt" so much?
Listen, there will be seasons in your life when God will call you out of some situations that, deep down inside, you would much rather remain in. But He knows what's best for you-- even when it feels like it's the worst thing for you.
Just know that He's working the junk out of you, so He can get glory out of you. So, let Him have His way. Say yes to His will. Surrender to Him. Submit to the pruning process. When you do, your life will be so much richer, and you'll ask yourself, "Why didn't I embrace this change sooner?"
Remember this; JUST BECAUSE SOMETHING IS BETTER FOR YOU, DOESN'T MEAN IT WILL FEEL BETTER TO YOU. The most important thing is not to abort God's rescue mission and revert back to your old ways.
In time you'll adjust. Just hang in there.
Until next time... may you be empowered to prosper!
